Lifeguarding oopsy

I have been a lifeguard for 4+ years. This summer was the summer I decided to quit and start looking for new jobs for more experience. I did though, have interesting experiences as a lifeguard. I worked at Great Wolf Lodge one summer where I rescued a few kids under the bubbles of the kiddie slides and put bandaids on "ouchies". In those 4+ years though, I mostly worked at my hometown's indoor pool and recreation center. I only have a few nosebleeds, fights, and ouchies here and there but not any big incidents. Until this past year, I had to save 3 kids. They weren't all full on just-in rescues, but I did have to give them the lifeguard tube, pull them out, and see if all their vitals we okay. There was this one incident that I was and still am embarassed about. One time during Saturday morning swimming lessons a little boy and his brother were waiting for their swimming lessons to start. They jumped in and the younger on started going under. I just into the water as fast as I could, but my foot got wrapped around the rope of my lifeguard tube. I laid in the 5 foot struggling to get over to the 3 foot. I felt like everyone was watching me with puzzlement, because I forgot to blow my whistle before entering the pool. As I tried to get out of the tangled mess I made and toward the little boy, he had made it out of the pool with the help of his brother. When I got over there, told them not to go in unless they had a parent with them...and slowly got our of the pool literally drenched with embarassment. The only good thing about this story is the kid made is out of the pool safely, but I have to admit if I were watching myself I would have laughed.

urge to travel.

I've been having wanted to go on a trip for sometime now. I've been to canada, st.louis, the dakotas, washington dc, philadelphia, new york, florida, and best of all Germany and France. I went to Germany my sophomore summer of my high school for a month for school. We went to france on this trip too, but for the most part we stayed with a host family and absorbed the culture. I made new friends and learned a lot more german. I hope to one day go back there, like I told all my friends there. It's hard coming up with the money and finding time to go. One day, I will go back there though. My family is made of travelers. They have been everywhere. And most of it was before I was born, but one day I will have a list full of all the places I've been. Right now, I have an iche for Maine, California, Colorado, Australia, Italy, and England. One of these days, I'll check them all off my list.

Finially!!

Well, the doctor's figured out that I must have been bite by a mosquito and got a long word that I can't remember that is in the same family as lymes disease. I'm not on medication, but still have some symptoms. Mostly I sleep a lot. Yesterday I went to my 11:20-12:15 class got home and slept til 6. Then was up for an hour or two then back to bed til this morning. The doctor said I won't feel like my complete self til Thanksgiving. I can't do much exercise and must try to be healthy as much as possible. Since the beginning of being sick I have lost 10lbs but half is muscle and tone needs, which kind of sucks. I'm so happy they found out what it was, but from out of this won't be the easiest. But FINALLY!

The worst headache ever... (part 2)

So, since my last blog I have been to the doctor twice. The most recent time was the emergency room. On monday, I woke up at my friends house feeling very chilled but my body was really warm. I called my mother telling her how I thought I had a fever. She called the Doctor while I drove from my friend house in Viroqua to Western for my 11:20 class. Before I got there my mom chewed off my ear because I hadn't gotten a thermpior to check my tempeture yet. So I stopped at walgrees in Viroqua. I checked my temp. It was 101.3. I called my mom again to tell her. She said she didn't hear anything yet from my doctor. So I kept heading to La Crosse. When I got there I heading to my class a minute or two late. When I got in the teacher pulled my out of class. Since I had missed two of her classes I didn't realize there was an exam that day. Luckily, since I was keeping her up with how I was sick she would give me time to study and take it at a different time. So she dismissed me from class and I checked my mom. I had a text from my mom "The doctor want to you to go to the ER right now." So, I drove an hour for nothing and had to drive two hours back home. (Note: Viroqua is only a half an hour away from Richland Center.) I headed to Center feeling woozey. Got to my house, where my mom and I met to go to the hospital in one car. Went to registration where my mom told me I would have a lumbar puncture. A lumbar puncture is what I thought a spinal tab was. It is but is doesn't relieve pressure. It's to take samples from your spine to see if you have meningistis. And it hurts...REALLY BAD! We had into a room, the doctor comes in. A doctor who i met before. His name is Dr. Kran and he is one of the greatest doctors I have ever encountered. I giggled when he came into the room and he recongized me too. Dr. Kran didn't understand what was wrong with me either. He decided the best thing was to check everything different blood samples, urine test, ct scan, everything before they would to the lumbar puncture. After 3 hours of testing, I laid in the bed with dried tears all around my face. My mom and my aunt were there so it made things better, but I can't stand needles after a while. Dr. Kran came in and told us everything looked normal so we should check the spine. It was up to me whether or not I wanted to do it. I was up for it, because I'm awfully tired of being sick. For the lumbar puncture I had to cruel up into a little ball while Dr. Kran gave me a shot to numb the area. The shot only numbed the area around the surface. It did not numb the the ligaments around my spine that he has to get through to my spine. I felt like he was stabbing me at least 5 times, very slowly and painfully. It took about 3 or 4 minutes, but he finally got enough CCs to take to the lab. After that I had to lay flat even after that doctors for several hours. The lab came back and it was negative of meningitis. So, as of now Dr. Kran said it is either a virus or something serious that hasn't shown up in any of the tests yet. I'm hoping it's just a virus. I still have a headache and temperture everyday and tomorrow I have another appointment. :(

My worst headache ever...

Since Tuesday I have had a migraine. I tuesday night, I got a bad migraine. The ones that after a while you feel so nauseous you vomit. So around midnight I started vomitting. After a while I stopped, drank some water and got some shut-eye. The next morning, my migraine felt like it was gone, but my head still felt a little sore. Like it was sore from being so painful. So I went on with my day with a headache. I started to notice that my vision was getting bad that day, but I didn't think too much of it. Yesterday I woke up and my head felt even worse and my vision was still bad. I started to also notice that I had pressure in my left ear and other weird symptoms. I called my mom and she said I have to go to the ER. The problem with this is...our insurance only covers the Richland Hospital. So, around midnight I had to drive to Richland Center, about two hours away. So, I got to the hospital and registration took forever. Which to me doesn't sound like it should take 20 minutes for registration in a medicial emergency. But maybe I'm wrong. :/ So, I got into the doctor where we talked about my history with migraines. They gave me the most painful shot I've ever had in my life and a pill for nausea. All the shot did was make my leg hurt as much as my head. I went to bed around 3:00 am. Today, I woke up still will my head hurting. My mom made me an appointment immediately in urgent care. When I got there today, I had to talk to another doctor and get blood taken. The doctor still isn't sure what is going on, because my blood looked normal. So tomorrow, I have to go back to the doctor to see if I need a spinal tap to release pressure in my back and head. I hope I get better asap, because this is the WORST headache I have ever had.

Back(packs) to school

I've noticed this school year that backpacks with a design have come out of the shadows. I am a fan of this back-to-school trend. I have had a cheetah print billabong backpack for 3 years and have waited to see more crazy patterns. Another kind of backpack I have noticed is rucksacks. Rucksacks seem to me are more on the classy end. Kind of an older touch to a modern backpack. I really like these. I think it might be the fact that I'm getting older and I want to be more classy then funky with patterns. As do I think many girls my age feel.
